What is an "electronic cigarette"?

In general, an electronic cigarette simulates the sensation and feel of smoking without the use of tobacco or smoke.

Since nicotine, in the form of water vapor, is still inhaled with an electronic cigarette, the overall physical and mental feel associated with smoking is still present. In addition, your brain sees your hand holding what appears to be a normal cigarette, so your brain "thinks" you're still smoking a real cigarette.

Thus, an electronic cigarette produces the desired physical and mental effects of smoking by electronic means rather than by burning tobacco.

Technology of an Electric Cigarette

NICMAXX electronic cigarettes contain 5 basic ingredients: Nicotine, Water, Glycerol, Vegetable and Propylene glycol, and Flavoring agents. For comparison, a tobacco cigarette contains over 4,000 chemicals, 60 of which are known carcinogens.

Glycerol and propylene glycol are common food and beverage additives. Propylene glycol is also used to create artificial smoke for theatrical productions.

Electronic cigarettes produce a realistic looking "smoke" that is actually just water vapor and propylene glycol. The vapor evaporates into the surrounding air in a few seconds.

When the user inhales at the mouthpiece, a small switch is activated and power is delivered to the atomizer. The atomizer creates a vapor from the water in the cartridge. As the vapor passes through the cartridge, it picks up the nicotine and flavoring and delivers it to the user.
